Transition Aging Parents, a business that focuses on information products and services to adult children of aging parents, first opened in October, 2009 in South Bend, IN. Dale Carter, owner, first visited the NC ISBDC on August 3, 2011 seeking assistance with her business plan.
Dale’s business plan was reviewed and a variety of recommendations followed, primarily focused upon finding ways to monetize the large volume of high quality content that Dale was generating. After refining the target market, a prospect database was compiled and formed the basis of a targeted direct mail outreach. A web site analysis was also completed through an ISBDC resource partner and plans were made for improving the site in the short term while preparing for a total redesign at a future date. Several recommendations were made for developing additional outlets for Dale’s content, including speaking engagements, introduction of webinars and teleseminars, and offering her book as an e-book through iTunes and other outlets.
Dale expanded her outbound marketing approach through targeted direct mail, focused upon development of her referral network, began offering online webinars, and secured an opportunity to speak at a national conference in 2012. Her 2011 revenues represented a 112% increase over 2010.
